No other bird has adapted itself to the city life so well as the Feral pigeon (Columba livia domestica). Once a wild bird who bred on rock walls and cliffs the Feral pigeon is widespread throughout the world and feels comfortable wherever humans lives. But many people are bothered about the "flying rats", which often occur in large swarms. From close up, however, these birds are pretty to look at and also reveal themselves as wise, curious, and adaptable animals. Feral pigeons are mostly escaped and released domestic pigeons or their offsprings. This is why many pigeons have variable colors and patterns, even the natural and wild color is common. The domestic pigeon was originally bred from the wild rock dove. This photo series is about the pigeons in Berlin, Germany.
